Does anyone want to ride the Conference Bike during Greenville's Christmas parade this Saturday? We're looking for a couple more warm bodies, although you will be responsible for keeping your body warm enough. The event is 6:00-7:15; entrants will assemble earlier. Email or call if you're interested.
Be sure to cheer for Bikeville tonight as they try to repeat last year's stunning upset victory in the Best Entrant, non-motorized, non-marching band category. I hear that Upstate Golden Retriever Rescue is planning a showstopper this year, so I don't know what kind of chance we have.
From GreenvilleOnline:
Bikeville, another award winner from last year (this one for best walking unit), is back with another creative endeavor.
The city’s bicycling advocacy group hopes to share a safety message along with some Christmas cheer. Its float – pulled by, what else, a bicycle – will feature a “Share the Road” theme, including a modeled car and bicycle. The group’s volunteers got together recently for a “float-building” party, a chance for the group to get together, talk and “play bikes,” said Andrew Meeker, project manager for the city of Greenville
“Bikeville thinks the bicycle can save the world, and we’re trying to, one pedal stroke at a time,” Meeker said. “It’s just a blast riding up (Main Street) and getting a kick being in that great event.”
We'll see how those Goldens like the Conference Bike. That's right, orphaned puppies—it's on.
